There probably isn't a better place in the world for cyclists than Mallorca. Each year over 35,000 cyclists ranging from professional cyclists to cycle tourists visit the island.

Whether they are training or touring the island, Mallorca is the perfect location due to a number of factors including weather, climate & geography.

The climate in Mallorca is perfect for cyclists and many cycle tourists visit Mallorca during September to October and January to May when the climate is pleasant & mild unlike the climate in Central Europe at these times of year when it is usually wet, icy & cold.

The road network in Mallorca is perfect for cyclists particularly the secondary road network which extends for 675km and has an average width of between 6-7 metres.

The geography of the island is ideal for the professional cyclist and cycle tourist and it is possible to plan a multitude of scenic short routes between towns and villages or longer routes. The cyclist can pick routes ranging from totally flat to mountain areas. So if you want flat terrain, rolling hills, long climbs, a beautiful landscape, low car traffic & perfect road conditions, Mallorca is the ideal location for you.

There are some amazing cycle routes to enjoy in Mallorca. A very popular route is the Formentor ride, which takes you up and down to the lighthouse at the end of the peninsula, Cap de Formentor – Mallorca’s most northerly point (but this is really for the very fit).

Many cyclists now choose to stay in a Mallorcan Finca rather than the usual beach-side accommodation you find in Mallorca. This is because Fincas tend to be located inland and close to the best cycle routes.

Mallorca is also a favourite for mountain-bikers and you are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to go. Probably a good idea is to pop into any of the great bike rental shops you will find on the island and ask where the best routes are.
