If you are an EU citizen you will be spared the task of having to pass the Spanish driving test.
Your driving license is valid on the island and when you decide that you wish to become a resident you will need to have your license stamped by the local authority or exchange it for a Spanish license.
Spare a thought for the expat from the USA - they have to take a Spanish driving test!
